Animal Spirit Ocarina

    Ocarina are very ancient wind instruments, native to pre- Colombian South and Central America, Mexico, Ancient China and other parts of the world. In fact, ocarinas may be among the most ancient of flutes, and the easiest type of flute to play. Suitable for children and adults alike. The Ocarina, hand tuned to produce the most awakening sound. These items are hand constructed out rare ancient Red clay deposits. This piece is 100% hand thrown and painted. This musical instrument was made to resemble a A Quetzal, bird native to Central America by the artist. You will be receiving the ocarina in the description picture, it is a unique piece and measures approximately 4.5 inches wide by5 inches long it weighs just under 1lb.

Orders will be shipped by a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS) Typical time will be 3-5 business days. International orders take 5 to 10 days depending on the location. 

 

About the building process:   

The building process: First I collect the clay and hand coil it into the shape of the Ocarina. In order to get the feel and result of Ancient  pottery i use local river clay. I let the piece air dry then sand and paint the designs with natural clay pigments from different colored clays, then I further let them dry outdoor in the Sun. I then pit fire them in my studio. The color of The Ocarina is due to the properties of the clay and fire clouding which means painted by fire. Each piece takes close to twenty days to complete These items are one of a kind artisan piece.
