About the building process:
First I collect the clay and hand coil it into the shape of the Reptile Ocarina This instrument can be Sound Healing and has a melodic sound. It is made with Black Clay then hand paint with natural earth minerals and ochers, this type of pottery uses special ancient techniques. In order to get the feel and result of Ancient North American pottery, I use local river clay. I let the piece air dry for at least a week, then I further let them dry outdoor in the Sun. I then pit fire them in my studio. The color of the Lizard Ocarina is due to the properties of the clay and fire clouding which means painted by fire. Each piece takes close to twenty days to complete These items are one of a kind artisan piece. This craft is authentic Purepecha pottery.
