Skull Popoxcomatl Copal burner Sahumador Sahumerio Copal burner is a Ceremonial smudge bowl is used by Curandera and curanderos to smudge and bring good vibes.  Made by master pottery with attention to detail.  Was hand painted using different color clays and pigments, using  home made brushes and fired traditionally.

This Popoxcomitl Copalero Sahumador is hand made out of special red river clay that is perfect for burning incense. The geometric design has a miquiztli skull zompantli.  It measures approximately 10.5 in long by 4 inches  wide  by 6 inches tall. Orders will be shipped by a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS) Typical time will be 3-5 business days. International orders take 5 to 10 days depending on the location. 

About the building process:   

The building process:

 First I collect the clay and hand coil it into the shape of the Pot. In order to get the feel and result of Ancient  pottery I use local river clay. I let the piece air dry then sand and paint the designs with natural clay pigments from different colored clays, then I further let them dry outdoor in the Sun. I then pit fire them in my studio. The color of the Pot is due to the properties of the clay and fire clouding which means painted by fire. Each piece takes close to twenty days to complete These items are one of a kind artisan piece. This craft is authentic Purepecha First Nations pottery.
